What is Direct Action?
Merriam Webster:
direct action
noun
: action that seeks to achieve an end directly and by the most immediately effective means (such as a boycott or strike)

Direct Action has become synonymous with political activism, but what does it mean? Historically, Direct Action is the use of independent individual or collective power to challenge the status quo and achieve justice around a systemic issue that can’t (or won’t) be resolved through “official” top-down governance. This method for change involves publicly demanding—and often presenting—commonly agreed-upon solutions to a complaint that becomes impossible to ignore. By appealing to peoples’ morality and revealing pervasive failures, a significant proportion of public opinion can be swayed in favour of proposed reforms.
A key aspect of direct action which distinguishes it from supposedly legitimate channels of influence is the link to civil disobedience, a term popularised in writing by Henry David Thoreau when in 1848 he refused to pay taxes that funded America’s war with Mexico. Civil disobedience is performing illegal acts in the name of righting wrongs. The idea is that the system dictating said illegalities is itself wrong for preserving injustices, and therefore needs contesting if a universally free and fair society is to prevail.
Non-violent direct action (NVDA) can include strikes, sit-ins, marches, and counter establishment (underground) economics. Violent direct action may involve assault, self-harm, arson, looting, and property destruction. But in both cases, direct action is a form of activism and not politics-as-usual because it generally (but not always) violates an existing law in the attempt to bypass or subvert the establishment—meaning electoral/authoritarian politics, religious organisations or established trade unions—for their purported crime of stagnation, corruption, or entrenched injustice.
My own definition does not include a distinction between non-violent and violent. It is simply, an action that directly confronts the issue in question to achieve some goal. Under these terms, Direct Action is both violent revolution and peaceful protest. It just depends what the goal is and what the most effective way to achieve that goal is. Determining the goal is the first thing that needs to be done. Having an understanding of ones society, the nature of strategy and tactics, knowledge of ones opposing forces, and intimate understanding of ones own resources amd capabilities give rise to the method most likely to bring success. I also include civil disobedience in the same category, as refusal to pay taxes like Thoreau is still an action that confronts the issue.

Most people have been so thoroughly trained to think that obedience is a virtue and that doing as you’re told makes you a good person, that anything contrary to that can be very difficult for them to consider. But the truth is, being a moral person often requires disobeying so-called “authorities” who use their power to exploit and dominate innocent people. As Martin Luther King, Jr. put it, “One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.” As Henry David Thoreau put it, “If [the law] is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law.” As Aleksandr Solzhenitsy put it, “If a regime is immoral, its subjects are free from all obligations to it.” And as Howard Zinn put it, “The greatest danger [is] civil obedience, the submission of individual conscience to governmental authority. Such obedience led to the horrors we saw in totalitarian states. … [T]o establish justice, it may be necessary to break the law, to commit acts of civil disobedience.”
There are many ways to influence change by taking direct action. In my opinion, the simplest methodology to make great change efficiently is to do two simple things, which i’ll share at the end of the article. Below are several examples of direct action you can utilize today to affect great change in our corrupted world.
Direct Action:
Prevent local water from being poisoned with fluoride by blockading the entrance to facilities with felled trees, poured in place concrete barriers, or road spikes. They will not be able to drive in with the truck.
Boycott Taxes. Get a whole town to refuse to pay income tax.
Cut a potato in half, press open end into exhaust pipe of tyrants vehicles. Repeat as desired. Lots of other ways to disable tyrants vehicles, making them less efficient in oppressing the people. Draino in gas tanks…
Hang any corrupt politician, banker or other criminal from nearest stout branch.
Use a local time banking money, or silver, or some other form of real money. Get others to do so.
Jam tyrant communications. Cut off internet to tyrant buildings. Pour draino in backup generator gas tank. Cut power to buildings.
Secede from all governments (US, state, local). Become your own master. Invite others.
Start a specific boycott of government employees regarding necessary services, like mechanics, groceries, whatever. Meaning that all gov employees are refused service at local businesses.
Petition, protest, send bills and letters to government. Overwhelm them with actions.
Run for local government, win, then begin to destabilize and destroy from within the tyrants infrastructure. Get all your friends to run for different positions. Support each other’s campaigns.
Blockade local government facilities with garbage redirected from the dump.
Mix used motor oil, sand, and, latex paint. Fill balloons. Play with traffic cameras, tyrant cameras, equipment, and clothing of all sorts.
Make road spikes from used metal fencing. Place near entrances and exits to tyrant facilities.
Create an app that shows where tyrants are at any given moment, like cops, politicians, globalists. Open source it, and make it so people can update it and link to pictures and videos.
Start 3d printing guns in your locality for your locality.
Start a monthly town hall style meeting amongst people in your town or county or whatever to GATHER→ORGANIZE→STRATEGIZE→ACT.
Start a community meal program that feeds all who come. Food not bombs style.
Start guerilla gardening, throwing organic seed bombs into every imaginable space.
Start Unschooling your neighborhood children.
Create leaflets/flyers showing local corruption, poison in water, etc. and deliver EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail) to your local population.
Reappropriate the equipment the government has purchased in your name. I see trains full of military vehicles all the time.
Put bounties on globalists heads on the black market.
Create a militia.
Start a library or book store or book exchange that only has books that educate people on how to live free.
Start an outdoor theatre with a projector and a big screen and invite people to come watch enlightening movies and documentaries.
Create agorist/anarchist/voluntaryist/freedom events in your area. Like Jackfest or Agorapulco or Midfest.
Start a campaign to buy vast acres of land to keep it out of the hands of tyrants and monopolists.
Kick out law enforcement from your town.
Create weapons, food, and equipment caches for SHTF either alone or with trusted fellows.
Start a parallel governing body that you adhere to as a community while ignoring the tyrants government.
Referencing the image from the top of the article, a group of righteous men and women who have a karen or a traitor (statist/tax drone/cop/gov spy) in their midst, musy first eradicate the cancer in their group before they can deal with the cancer infecting the entire population. Correct locally and intimately for the quality of the people and the movement. Then you may begin correcting the bigger picture.
Start a Social Club, or join one that already exists, or team up to build an incipient one.

How do we conduct operations against the government and its mercenary army (police/law enforcement)? How do we remain out of prisons and coffins while actively denying and defying tyranny?
Well, we need to conduct our operations individually or in small groups. Decentralized or distributed warfare. If there is an escalation to revolution, then we would have more specific tactically advantageous organization. As long as we are in guerilla warfare against the state, then using means to remain anonymous or benign in their eyes is important. If you are taking direct action that would land you in serious trouble with the tyrants if you were caught, then take care to not get caught. Tell none to few of your actions. Buy with cash or silver, wear gloves, have alibis, and avoid flashy behavior. Avoid anything SMART. Like smartphones to do your work. Make use of analog life as much as possible. Recon your mission until you are absolutely positive of the factors involved. Don’t be a coward.
I contend that the greatest method to affect great change today and at any time, is to hang the politicians/monopolists/plutocrats/globalists/tyrants from a short rope and also simultaneously ignore all “laws”/ordinances/statutes made by foreign governments (United States, the individual states, municipalities and counties, etc.).
It’s straight forward, easy to get behind and doesn’t require any further ideological alignment than “tyrants are bad”.
The pacifists won’t like it so much, and many cowards will claim it to be anything but useful to rid ourselves of globalist parasites and politicians. Everyone has a role though. As a pacifist you can choose to not interfere with those who hang these criminals and everyone can ignore the laws together at the same time. It’s quite easy. Quite simple.
Boycott all government. Ignore them entirely. Refuse compliance to force. Call upon the strong in your community to guard against force from government.
I stumbled across this comic from early 2000's Japan. It is about a mysterious protagonist who has come to “eradicate evil”, and thus is out and about killing gang leaders and politicians and bankers. Direct action. I’d say so.
